Pioneer Jews in Contra Costa County

by Bernie Freedman

Pioneer Jews in Contra Costa County

Jewish immigrants and their descendents played important roles in creating modern, thriving communities on the old Contra Costa frontier. Jewish pioneers from the Civil War through World War I were active in the political, social and business life of early Contra Costa. Based on his extensive research, Bernard Freedman has compiled a 120 page book filled with the biographies of most of the prominent, old line, Jewish families together with their occupations, political affiliations, volunteer activities and family relationships.

For any researcher interested in the role Jews played in western settlement or genealogists tracing family trees, this CD is a "must have". The CD is in a fully searchable, PDF (Portable Document Format) format, and is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems.

A Windows-compatible copy of the Adobe Reader 6.0 is included with the CD. If you are using any other operating system, a free copy of the PDF reader can be downloaded by clicking here.
